DAY 1Arrival at the Zagreb Airport in Zagreb. . Pesron from travel agency wait you at the airport, transfer and drive to your chosen accommodation.. Following the check-in, the remainder of the day is free for personal interest and activities. Zagreb is the capital city of the Republic of Croatia. Today, Zagreb is the administrative, business, cultural, transport and scientific centre of Croatia. Its position and culture classifies it as a Central European city. You can spend the day visiting the capital city and its historical and cultural attractions, museums, performances or simply spend the day strolling through the city centre, having a coffee on one of the many well known Zagreb terraces or perhaps try some specialties in one of the many Zagreb gourmet restaurants. An overnight stay.
DAY 2After breakfast, a tour of the Hrvatsko Zagorje and castles has been organised. Hrvatsko Zagorje is a cultural and historical area in the northwestern region of Croatia. It is separated from Zagreb by Medvednica, the renowned Zagreb mountain and nature park. Zagorje is known for its castles and beautiful picturesque nature. There will be an opportunity to have lunch in one of the Zagorje restaurants offering local dishes. Return to the hotel, an overnight stay.
DAY 3Breakfast, checkout from the hotel and continuing the drive towards the beautiful Istrian coastal town of Rovinj, where you’ll be provided with accommodation for the next 3 days. The remainder of the day allows for personal time and discovering Rovinj and its surrounding areas. Rovinj is located on the western coast of the largest Croatian peninsula of Istria. Together with its neighbouring Poreč, it is the most popular tourist centre in Istria. A tour of the cultural and historical attractions of Istria (Church of St. Euphemius with its particular mystical story, numerous museums and galleries, the Ruđer Bošković Marine Research Centre). An overnight stay.
DAY 4Today you’ll have the opportunity to visit the already mentioned neighbouring town of Poreč and the hinterland area of Istria which is really special. Following breakfast, a drive towards Poreč, a tour of the famous Euphrasius’ Basilica. The Old Town has preserved the layout of the streets of the Old Roman Castrum. The main streets are Dekumanus and Cardo Maximus, still preserved in its ancient original style. A tour of the Grožnjan, also called the town of artists, which has about 20 galleries and art ateliers. Also initiated is the summer international film school and the International Cultural Centre of Croatian Musical Youth. A visit to Motovun. The best preserved medieval Istrian fortress, built on the top of a steep hill. In ancient times, the Illyrian and Celtic tribes built their fortresses on what is today known as Motovun. The name is also of Celtic origin, and is derived from the word Monton, meaning town on a hill. Today, Motovun is a renowned tourist and cultural centre on account of its film festival held each year and lasting a number of days. The whole hinterland region of Istria provides the opportunity to try and buy truffles, the national Istrian specialty. A visit to Hum, the smallest town in the world known for its Glagolitic Alley and its history. A return to Rovinj, overnight stay.
DAY 5Following breakfast and checkout from the hotel, a drive to Pula, visit to the Pula Arena and a tour of the Town of Pula. A drive along the hinterland coastal side of the largest Croatian peninsula, a ride north towards Labin and the opportunity to stop at a place on the way that provides a beautiful view of the sea. Arrival into Opatija, once the main destination of the Royal Austro-Hungarian Monarchy and a famous health centre. Opatija has preserved to this day the same architectural appearance.
DAY 6Today’s plan is to spend a relaxing day in Opatija. An opportunity to hike along the 12-kilometre long Opatija walkway lungo-mare, connecting a number of small places with Opatija (Volosko-Opatija-Lovran). The opportunity to visit the Učka Nature Park if desired. A tour of the cultural and historical attractions of Opatija, its beautiful appearance and parks (they are also called the pearls of the Adriatic Sea). The opportunity to have lunch or dinner in one of the renowned Opatija restaurants.
DAY 7Breakfast, checkout from the hotel. Continue the drive to Karlovac. Exiting onto the old Karlovačka road and drive to Rastoke – Plitvice Lakes. The Plitvice Lakes complex was declared a national park on 8 April 1949, a forest mountain region in which a series of 16 smaller and larger crystal blue-green coloured lakes can be found. The water gains its colour from the numerous small rivers and streams, mutually connected by cascades and waterfalls. A tour of Plitvice and an overnight stay.
DAY 8Checkout from the hotel, continue the drive to Zagreb. Car waiting and completion of trip timed to the departure of your flight (opportunity exists to organise additional overnight stays close to the airport if necessary due to flight arrangements.
